About me
My name is Peter Heeneman. Born in The Hague the Netherlands. In 1984 I started taking pictures of aircraft at an nearby airfield. As this was a military airfield, NAS Valkenburg with stationed P-3 Orions of the Netherlands Navy, my interest for military airplanes started. Soon after that I also started taking pictures of civil aircraft at Schiphol - Amsterdam airport. Ever since that first visit I have taking pictures of both civil and military airplanes using Canon equipment. To be honest, all most Canon equipment. I started my photography career with the good old Praktica MTL5. In the first year visits where made only in the Netherlands, but soon after that the first trips where made in Europe and finally resulted in the first "big" trip to Miami in 1989. During that first visit to Miami my special interest for the "propliners" started.
At the end of the eighties, early nineties my interest was mainly focused on military airplanes in the former Warchau-Pact countries. Especially the former East Germany where the 16th Sovjet Airforce was stationed. After these busy years the focus changed to civil aircraft again untill around 2005, but I did not forget the military part in that period.
After my switch from analoge to digital equipment (2006) my interest for military and old airplanes came back. Since that switch I tried to divide my interest between military and civil airplanes. In 2014 I have celebrated my 30th anniversary of aircraft photography.
During those years I have been contributing to several aviation magazines and books as an editor, writer and photographer. My aviation pictures have been published in many magazines and a book about Dutch Civil Airliners.
From now a selection of my pictures can been seen on this website : www.peterheeneman.nl
